Virginia Cooperative Extension Leadership Council
The membership of VCELC represents the diversity of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The membership consists of representatives from the 22 planning districts of Virginia, the VCE district directors, the chairs or designees of the VCE program leadership councils, the director and administrator of VCE, the deans of the related colleges at Virginia Tech and Virginia State, the director of the Agricultural Experiment Station, the Director of Agricultural Research at Virginia State University, and others designated by VCE and Virginia Tech.

On a more formal basis, VCE insures citizen involvement by involving citizens as members of the County/City Extension Leadership Council. We strive to have an ELC membership that reflects the make-up of the county/city population. ELC members can be individuals with varying degrees of familiarity with and usage of Extension programs. If you are interested in learning more about how you can become involved with your county Extension Leadership Council, contact your local Extension office or the local ELC Chair.

The mission of the Virginia Cooperative Extension Leadership Council (VCELC) is to advance and promote the educational program of Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE)

The VCELC is a partnership of community/state leaders at the state level with VCE.

Goals of VCELC

  • Serve as a communications link between VCE and all relevant program partners/stakeholders in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, and 4-H Youth Development.
  • Plan and implement the appropriate public relations activities in support of VCE.
Program Input
Virginia Cooperative Extension is interested in listening to your ideas of local issues and needs that VCE could address. Your input is valuable to us, as it helps us stay in touch with the pulse of the community. We are constantly striving to keep our educational programs relevant to citizens needs. We invite you to contact any of the Extension Agents or any of the county/city ELC members to share your ideas.
